Penn Central v. New York City

In the 1978 Supreme Court case of Penn Central v. New York City, the court decided in favor of New York City's rejection of Penn Central's proposed 55-story building over designated landmark Grand Central Station. The decision upheld the principle of landmark preservation laws by declaring that the burden placed on Penn Central was balanced by the public good of protecting the historic building.
