Levittown

Levittown was the first large suburban housing development in the U.S. Named after the developers of the project, William and Alfred Levitt, the development was started in 1947 on Long Island potato fields. The Levitt's used assembly line methods to build over 17,000 cape cod and ranch style homes on 7.3 square miles of land in the towns of Wantagh, Hicksville, and Westbury, New York.
